Introduction

In 1604 France established a permanent settlement in North America.  Here they created a new culture which blended old world French traditions with Aboriginal customs and adaptations to the new land. This is a Web Quest for high school students, specifically IB History of the Americas students, and is part of a larger unit on the colonialization of the New World in which students compare the colonies of the Spanish, British and French.  In this WebQuest students  research and prepare for a class discussion simulation where they role play various participants in the New France Colony 1604 to 1763.  Students will discuss the political, economic and social organization of the colony.
