2. You will research the suggested web links (see student resources) and will take notes on paper (minimum of 3 pages) on your assigned panel/character. Your notes should be complete and detailed with specific examples and data. You should refer to your panel's guiding questions to help direct your search and note taking. Each character is responsible for all required information for your panel. You will be able to explain clearly and completely the political, economic, or social structure of the colony, as well as your specific character's role and attitude towards the colony and its structure in a classroom discussion where you will share your information. You may find that there will be some overlap of information within the panels.

3. In addition to your note taking you will create a persona (a written description of your character). Some characters are based on actual historical figures. Generic characters may create their own personal persona. Your description should include:

  • reason why you came to the New World or your personal utopian dream
  • specific role in the community
  • attitude toward your colony and its organization
  • opinions on issues pertinent to your character such as religion, mercantilism, trade, Native Americans, education, and government
4. You will create a MLA Works Cited Page that is annotated. List which internet sources were used and give a brief description of the information you accessed from the site. Make sure your annotations are your original thoughts and not just the annotations already provided in the Student Resource Link!

5. You will share your research and persona  in a classroom discussion. Each panel will share and teach its information with members of the class.  It is expected that you will be prepared and will speak up. You will be evaluated on your participation and your preparation (see rubric on evaluation page).  It is also expected that you will take class notes on the presentations of the other panel groups
